Who’s behind Volumeal
An honest calorie-tracking app, built by a small independent team in France — to measure without lying.

The founder
Volumeal is founded and developed by Can Ozmen, an independent developer and maker based in France. After years of using calorie counters that show an ’exact’ number down to the gram — and therefore necessarily wrong — he built Volumeal around one simple idea: estimating from a photo always carries a margin, so own it with an honest range instead of hiding it behind a single fake figure.
Can leads the product, the design and the site content directly. Every calculator and health page is grounded in verifiable official sources — see our method.
Why Volumeal exists
Most calorie apps display a single, precise, reassuring number. The problem: no one can know a plate’s calories to the gram from a simple photo. Volumeal takes the opposite bet — showing a confidence range and a trend over time. It’s both more honest and more useful for tracking your weight, without obsessing over a decimal that means nothing.
How we work
We don’t publish invented statistics or studies. Our values and calculations rely on public databases and established scientific formulas, cited and linked:
